Bell
Leland Hudson Bell, 63, of George West died Sunday, June 15, 2003. Mr. Bell was born on March 21, 1940, in Three Rivers to Hudson Daniel and Laura Olivia (Stewart) Bell.
He was raised in Three Rivers and Simmons and graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1958. He resided in the Dallas area until the mid-1970s and moved to Corpus Christi where he lived until returning to Live Oak County in the early ’90s. He was a member of the Oakville Baptist Church and the Windmill Emmaus Community. Mr. Bell loved children and he helped coach Little League and took several softball teams to the state playoffs in Waco.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hudson Bell, in January 1982; his stepfather, Clifton Elliott in November 1987; and his mother, Laura Elliott in May 1991.
Survivors include his best friend and companion, Donna White of George West; three daughters, Beki (Kelly) Wilson of Three Rivers, Stephanie White of College Station and Ashly Becton of George West; four sons, Joshua Wadsworth and Daniel White, both of George West, Floyd White of San Marcos and Brandon Bell of Mesquite; a sister, Barbara Elliott of Kingsville; a brother, Robert (Kathy) Elliott of Sugar Land; three grandchildren, Kati Jo and Maggi Wilson of Three Rivers and William Wadsworth of Beeville; a nephew and niece, Colin and Shannon Elliott of Sugar Land; and his lifelong friend, Norman Barron of Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Tuesday at First Baptist Church in George West. The funeral was held this morning (Wednesday) at 10 o’clock. Burial followed at the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Norman Barron, Tommy Humphrey, Ralph Taylor, Dean Smith, Joe Gordou, Wood Harrod, Billy Wieding and Juan Ramos.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Windmill Emmaus Community Scholarship Fund.

Gilmore
Floyd Harold Gilmore, 87, of Del Rio died Monday, June 16, 2003, at Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers from 4 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. Burial will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Mr. Gilmore was born March 18, 1916, in Olin, Iowa. He married Betty Carrigan in Davenport, Iowa in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired owner/operator of a service station in Corpus Christi.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gilmore.
Survivors include a son, Larry Harold Gilmore of Edinburg; a sister, Neva Fox of Davenport, Iowa and a brother, Don Gilmore of Olin, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

Henicke
Minnie (Kleiber) Henicke, 96, of George West, died Sunday, June 15, 2003.
A rosary was recited Monday at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at St. George Catholic Church in George West, with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Jerry Williams provided music on the organ.
Burial followed in the St. George Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Henicke, Frank Henicke, Rickie Henicke, Wesley Henicke, Glen Williams and Jerry Collins.
Mrs. Henicke was born in Hallettsville on Aug. 2, 1906, to Joe and Mary (Schonner) Kleiber. She married Ben J. Henicke Sr. in Victoria on Nov. 2, 1924. She was a homemaker and member of St. George Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben J. Henicke Sr., on Oct. 8, 1986; a son, Johnny; three daughters, Mary, Elizabeth and Margaret; and three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include 11 children, Ben (Mary) Henicke Jr., Louise Staggs and Willie (Orlean) Henicke, all of George West, Walter Henicke and Alfred Henicke, both of Oakville, Frank (Rosemary) Henicke of Spring, Raymond (Glenda) Henicke of Bishop, Helen Collins of Montgomery, Dorothy (Justin) Williams of Corpus Christi, Gus (Marie) Henicke of Keller and Charles (Ann) Henicke of Karon; two sisters, Martha Huber and Millie Kutcha, both of Victoria; 41 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. George Catholic Church, George West.

Herring
Charles Hughes Herring, 87, of Three Rivers, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, following a long illness. Mr. Herring was born in Mineral. He graduated from Three Rivers High School and attended business college in San Antonio. He served as a bomber pilot on a B-29 and earned the rank of first lieutenant during World War II. He served as pastor of the Calvary Tabernacle Church in Three Rivers and was a stock farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Herring of Three Rivers; two sons, Robert Herring of Beeville and James Curtis Herring of Three Rivers; three daughters, Suzanne Melchor, Louise Odom and Virginia Herring, all of Three Rivers; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday at the Roberson Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held this afternoon (Wednesday) at 3 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Three Rivers. Interment will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery.

Muñoz
Celia Muñoz, 88, of Three Rivers died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Live Oak Nursing Center in George West. Visitation was held Sunday at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. A rosary was recited at 7 o’clock that evening at the chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Three Rivers, with Father Piotr Gajda officiating. Burial followed in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marcos Mendez, Harry J. Schulz, Esteban De Los Santos, Rocque Peña, Tanis De Los Santos, Hector Peña, Bobby Mendez and Rocque Mendez.
Honorary pallbearers were all her grandchildren.
Mrs. Muñoz was born in Laredo on Feb. 11, 1915, to Antonio and Virginia (Garza) De Los Santos. She married Manuel Muñoz in San Pablo Ranch in Webb County on April 19, 1941. She was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Manuel Muñoz, on Nov. 8, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Manuel Muñoz of Kingsville; two daughters, Yolanda (Rosendo) Ruiz of George West and Ofelia (Hubert) Simmons of Quincy, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Smith
Jerrold “Jerry” Smith, 55, of George West died Sunday, June 15, 2003. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. John Alsbrooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Clegg Cemetery in the Clegg Community.
Pallbearers will be Lt. Col. William “Bill” Dubel, Denner Mixon, Art Carrillo, Clayton Glover, Praa Brandon Lane and Frank Heritage. Honorary pallbearers will be Major Gordon Niebergall and his nephews, Daniel Glover, Sgt. John Smith, H.C. Smith and Rodney Wade.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 7, 1947, in Three Rivers to Harold Clinton and Drusilla (Hendrick) Smith. He married Charlotte Boyd on Nov. 3, 1966, in Corpus Christi. He served in the Air Force and retired from the Air National Guard Reserves. He was a safety manager for Gulf Copper Ship Repair and was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge of George West and lifetime National Rifle Association member.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte (Boyd) Smith of George West; a daughter, Jennifer (Miles) Mueller of Floresville; a son, Clinton Laurence (Michelle) Smith of Canton, Ga.; his mother, Dru Hendrick Smith of Clegg; a sister, Drusilla Glover of Portland; a brother, Jamie (Penny) Smith of Aransas Pass; four grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Nathan Mueller, Trent Smith and Aaron Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Guynes
Jimmy Harlan Guynes, 59, of Georgetown died Monday, May 19, 2003.
Mr. Guynes was born in San Antonio on Nov. 22, 1943, to the late Mittie Cornelia (Chappell) and Louis Harlan. He served in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of the University of Corpus Christi with a degree in business. Guynes was a self-employed farmer/rancher, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Three Rivers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two sisters, Jacqueline Ann (Stephen) Johannes of Georgetown and Janelle (Joseph) Dicaprio of Miami Springs, Fla.; one nephew, Bubba Dicaprio; and one niece, Kristen Dicaprio.
Visitation was held Thursday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. The funeral was Friday at the First Baptist Church in Three Rivers, with Chaplain Dean Hamilton officiating. Music included “How Great Thou Art,” “Old Rugged Cross,” “Amazing Grace” and “May the Good Lord Bless You and Keep You.” The singer was Ross Curbello, accompanied by Nancy Davis on piano. Burial followed at Stockdale Cemetery.

Melton
Mamie (Nolen) Melton, 75, of Three Rivers died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Northwest Regional Hospital in Corpus Christi.
Mrs. Melton was born on March 5, 1928, in Blanchard, Okla., to the late China (Estep) and Porter Wade Nolen. She married Lee Allen Melton in George West on Nov. 24, 1943. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oakville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin and Robert Melton, both of Three Rivers; one daughter, Florence Lamprecht of Three Rivers; one sister, Carne Neatherlan of Aspermont; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. The funeral will be held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at the Oakville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Orman Gwynn and Rev. J.W. Stevens officiating. Music will include “Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace.” Burial will follow at the White Creek Cemetery in the community of White Creek.
Pallbearers will be Joe Peña, Gary Wayne Lamprecht, Donny Wade Lamprecht, Lee Allen Melton, Gary Remmers and Doug Melton. Honorary pallbearers will be Punkin Remmers, Tracy Melton, T.C. Meineke and Ashley Melton.
