Players can get married to any one of twelve eligible candidates inRune Factory 5.This game was a spin-off of the highly successfulHarvest Moon series, which later split off intoStory of Seasons.Rune Factory 5 follows players as either Ares or Alice as they settle down on a farm and build a life in Rigbarth. While farming is the primary focus on the game, there are also JRPG elements like killing monsters and clearing dungeons. However, the focus is on life in Rigbarth, and players inRune Factory 5can marry and have children in the game.
There are twelve eligible marriage candidates inRune Factory 5: Beatrice, Cecil, Fuuka, Lucas, Lucy, Ludmilla, Marakumo, Martin, Priscilla, Reinhard, Ryker, and Scarlett. It does not matter if players arethe male Ares or female Alice as they can marry an eligible partner of either sex. In addition to marriage, players can also have children inRune Factory 5.

Before players can marry their chosen spouse, there are a series of steps they must follow. Players must witness all story events with their future spouse, confess love, have a minimum friendship level, date, and have a ring. While it seems like a lot of work, marriage is a fun part ofRune Factory 5 that gives depth to the characters and extends the gameplay.
Getting Married in Rune Factory 5
The first step to getting married is to identify which of the twelve candidates inRune Factory 5 players want to marry. It is possible to date several characters at a time, but players can only marry one. There are a lot of steps players must take before a wedding date is set:
- Story events - each character has 3 story events that players must witness before confessing love. These events can be found on the map; when a particular player has a story event, their avatar's background will be pink. Go to all three events; missing one event will make marriage impossible.
- Confess feelings - to confess feelings to the chosen candidate, players must be single, have seen the three story events, and have at least level 7 friendship in Rune Factory. This can be done from the BTW menu; when speaking with the candidate, press L or R and tell them "I love you!" Do not tell them this unless players have at least 7 friendship points, as it will make things awkward.
- Date them - After successfully confessing feelings, players will date their future-spouse. Ask them on a date from the BTW menu, and they will give a time and a place. Do not miss the date, as players will get in a fight with their beau. After 3 dates, players can witness another mandatory story event.
- Friendship level 10 - before proposing, increase the friendship level with the chosen candidate to level 10.
- Meet and unlock all NPCs in Rigbarth - players must unlock and meet all potential NPCs in Rigbarth before marriage can take place.
- Buy an engagement ring and a double bed - the future spouse will need a ring and a place to sleep, so make sure to buy these items before proposing marriage. The ring can be crafted after witnessing the final story event after dating. The double bed will be available from Studio Palmo at the same time. The double bed costs 30,000G, 40 stone, and 80 lumber.
Once all of these conditions have been met, players can propose to their future spouse. They will get married the next day in-game.
